Assets and the Polaroid name passed through a reorganized company and later Petters Group ownership. Instant camera production and the remaining film lines stopped in 2008, and the post-reorganization company entered bankruptcy that December amid the wider collapse of the Petters organization.
The Impossible Project organized around Polaroid's surviving Enschede plant and rebuilt integral-film production with altered materials and supply chains. Film sales resumed in 2010, preserving the physical Polaroid format even though the original Cambridge corporation and its formulas did not continue intact.

Komamura transferred its photographic and broadcasting-equipment operations to Kenko Professional Imaging. Komamura continued separately in advanced imaging, while Kenko became steward of Horseman products, documentation, service information, and the professional-camera heritage.

Kenko Professional Imaging opened the Horseman Museum in Nakano in 2016 with cameras and accessories representing the brand's history, alongside then-current Axella and VCC Pro equipment. In 2017 the majority shareholders behind the Impossible Project acquired PLR IP Holdings, owner of the Polaroid brand. Polaroid Originals followed, and the businesses were integrated under Polaroid B.V.; the current company again develops instant cameras and manufactures film at Enschede.
