Your data is private by design.
Brass & Glass is built for photographers who take ownership seriously. Your gear inventory may contain serial numbers, purchase records, and location data. We treat that information like the sensitive data it is.
What we collect
When you add gear to your locker, we store the information you provide: brand, model, serial number, purchase price, purchase date, condition, and any notes or receipts you attach. We also store standard account information: your email address, and optionally your name, business name, phone number, and address if you choose to add them. We collect basic activity logs — logins, exports, and imports — to help you monitor your account and to support security investigations if needed.
What we never do
- Sell your gear inventory data to any third party
- Share your serial numbers, receipts, or valuations with insurers without your explicit action
- Use your inventory data to serve targeted advertising
- Make your gear locker publicly accessible without your permission
How we protect your data
Your gear locker is private by default. Serial numbers, storage locations, and receipts are never exposed in public-facing pages. Uploaded receipts and insurance documents are stored in a private storage bucket. Files are accessed only through signed, time-limited download links — never through permanent public URLs. All data is encrypted in transit and at rest. Account access requires email verification. Multi-factor authentication is available in your account settings. We do not overclaim. We will not use terms like "military grade" or "bank-level security." What we can say: encryption, MFA, private storage, signed URLs, and privacy-first defaults.
Your controls
Your data is permanently portable
Everything in your Brass & Glass account — your gear inventory, uploaded receipts, generated insurance reports, vault documents, and account settings — is exportable at any time from your account settings. One click downloads a complete zip archive. No plan restrictions. No expiry.
Exports are available in open formats: CSV for gear data, PDF for reports, and JSON for account settings. These files are yours to keep, share with an insurer, or import elsewhere.
If Brass & Glass ever shuts down, we will provide advance notice and a final export window before any data is deleted. We will not disappear without giving you time to take your data with you.
