*** THIS ROW WAS CORRECTED ON 2026-09-03 BECAUSE ITS PREVIOUS NOTES WERE FABRICATED. *** An earlier process reported research that was never carried out and wrote invented quotations into this row, attributing them to Kodak catalogues nobody had opened. Everything in this note was retrieved afterwards by bounded verbatim request against the named source and confirmed by a second differently-worded read. Where a fact could not be retrieved it is marked NOT SOURCED rather than replaced with a better guess. *** THE 'AUSTRALIA-ONLY' CLAIM WAS WRONG AND IS CORRECTED HERE. *** The previous note asserted exclusivity; the source it leaned on says something weaker. DPReview, 24 March 2014, wrote that the a3500 'at this point, is only for the Australian market' - an at-launch observation, which the fabrication hardened into permanent exclusivity. Sony's own regional sites contradict it: the identical kit listing appears on Sony India and Sony Middle East, and Sony Middle East states plainly 'Included components may vary by country or region of purchase: SEL1850, ILCE-3500'. The lens launched in Australia in March 2014 and was later distributed in further regions including India and the Middle East. WHAT IS MANUFACTURER-CONFIRMED. Sony Australia's own ILCE-3500J specifications page lists the box contents as 'Lens hood, Lens cap, Rechargeable Battery NP-FW50, AC Adaptor AC-UB10, Shoulder strap, Micro USB cable, SEL1850'. That is the anchor for this lens's existence, and it matters because this catalogue has already had to delete a wholly fabricated Sony lens, the 'FE 500mm f/4 GM OSS' removed by 20260711180000. SONY'S OWN PRODUCT PAGES ARE GONE - three SEL1850 URLs were tested and all three return 404, so no manufacturer specification sheet survives. Everything numeric below therefore rests on two independent enthusiast sources, a lens database and a hands-on review with original photographs. THEY AGREE ON: 6 elements in 6 groups, 7 aperture blades, 0.4m minimum focus, a 55mm filter thread, and no stabilisation - the last also confirmed by DPReview. TWO FIELDS ARE NULLED BECAUSE THE SOURCES CONFLICT. Weight is given as 157g by one and 158g by the other, and with no manufacturer tiebreaker neither is asserted. The focus motor conflicts outright - one calls it SAM, the other a stepping motor - so no motor type is recorded. The previous note asserted 'stepping motor' from a single source as though settled. ONE FIELD IS ADDED: a length of 59mm, single-source. MAXIMUM DIAMETER REMAINS NOT SOURCED, and that - together with the motor - is now the honest reason specs Incomplete stays true. The previous note's stated reason, that dimensions were sourced nowhere, was itself wrong.
