It was stored as 'MD Rokkor 135mm f/3.5', which is not what Minolta engraved. *** Every MC and MD 135mm Rokkor carries the word TELE: the engraving is 'MD TELE ROKKOR', or 'MD TELE ROKKOR-X' on North American examples. The word is not optional and its absence is how the stored name was identified as wrong. THIS ROW COVERS THE 4-ELEMENT LENS ONLY. Minolta sold two optically different 135mm f/3.5 lenses under MD badging and this catalogue splits them: the 4-element/55mm filter lens here, and a 5-element/49mm filter lens from 1979 that is 155 grams lighter and takes a different filter. A buyer choosing between them on a single row would be misled, which is why the split was made. MINOLTA SR BAYONET. This catalogue defines ONE Minolta manual-focus mount slug, minolta Md, used 70 times across the migrations and with no separate MC slug - the SR bayonet is one physical mount across the MC and MD generations, so an MC-era lens on minolta Md is correct and not a defect. NOT SOURCED: aperture blade count. Minolta's own database does not record it and the figures circulating elsewhere trace back to that same database.
