Kodak's de luxe folder of 1937: an aluminium case in 'genuine pin-seal grain leather' with chromium and black lacquer, a FOLDING optical eye-level finder where the Senior's is fixed, and a body release. Three dimensions from the Senior - the Anastigmat Special glass that gives the camera its name, the Compur-Rapid and later Supermatic shutters the Senior never carried, and the body. NO RANGEFINDER, asserted rather than assumed: focusing is by front-element rotation with distance marks, roughly 3 ft to infinity, and no Kodak source claims otherwise. Objects engraved '127/4.5 KODAK ANASTIGMAT SPECIAL' in Compur-Rapid (four examples), in a No. 2 Supermatic and in a Kodamatic No. 2 - the Supermatic example post-dates the catalogues consulted and shows the American shutter replacing the German one late in the run. LENS AND SHUTTER ARE AN OPTION LADDER, NOT SEPARATE MODELS. Kodak's catalogues print one heading and one description per camera with a price table of lens-and-shutter combinations underneath, and AA-13 carries one row per camera rather than one per grade. DATING: NONE EXISTS FOR THIS CAMERA. No Kodak serial-to-year table was ever published for any Rochester body, and the CAMEROSITY lens code runs only from about 1940 and only on Ektar, Anastigmat Special and Anastar lenses - none of which this camera was sold with in a year the code was in use.
