Roughly 45,000 units. Schneider-Kreuznach Reomar 45mm f/2.8. Flat-top body with an extra bright-frame window and a depth-of-field indicator; zone focus with detents at 6.5, 10 and 30 ft; plastic bottom-lever wind; COLD shoe. Three hardware dimensions separate it from the Type 035: lens (f/3.5 to f/2.8 - though note the 035 itself moved to f/2.8 in 1961), shutter (Vero-or-Pronto to Pronto only) and body. NO PRODUCTION RANGE ROW: the start year has a four-way disagreement across sources - 1960, 1961 and 1962 - and production Start cannot hold a guess. The end, 1963, is agreed. *** A PREMISE REFUTED ***: the common claim that a Retinette IA differs from a Retinette I by a hot shoe is wrong for this Type. The 042 has a COLD shoe, stated by two independent sources. The accessory shoe with a flash-sync centre contact arrives at Type 044, and one source says so explicitly by contrast with the 042. REOMAR IS A KODAK TRADE NAME, NOT A MAKER. Both Schneider-Kreuznach and Rodenstock supplied Reomars to Kodak AG, the Rodenstock version based on Schneider's original triplet, and the SAME Type appears with both. The maker is therefore a per-example fact resolved from the engraving - 'Schneider-Kreuznach Reomar' or 'Rodenstock Reomar' - exactly the rule this catalogue already applies to the Retina DKL lenses.
