Spec Notes
Roughly 78,000 units. Improves on the Retina Reflex (025) in exactly the way that matters: the WHOLE lens interchanges rather than only the front component. Standard lens options, the fullest list of any Reflex: Schneider Retina-Xenon 50mm f/1.9, Rodenstock Retina-Heligon 50mm f/1.9, Schneider Retina-Xenar 50mm f/2.8, Rodenstock Retina-Ysarex 50mm f/2.8; the f/2.8 pair is the most-cited fitment. Coupled selenium meter, the same as the Retina IIIS. *** A YEAR GAP THIS PROJECT LISTED AS OPEN, NOW CLOSED ***: the kickoff brief recorded Types 034, 041 and 051 as having no sourced production band. All three now do. For the 034 the end is 1960, from the specialist source AND a Kodak Museum object record independently. A widely-read infobox claims 1966; that is refuted by its own article text (1959-1961) and by the Reflex III occupying 1961-1964. Weight and dimensions NOT SOURCED. DATING: Kodak AG published no serial-to-year table, and the collector lists that exist map serial to MODEL with OVERLAPPING ranges - Retina Ia (015) and IIa (016) share two bands character-for-character, as do Retina I (013) and II (014), and a 50001-ish low block recurs across Types 018, 019/2, 028 and 029. A serial-only lookup is not merely imprecise, it is actively wrong. Where the fitted lens is Schneider-built, the LENS is datable from Schneider's own 63 published serial bands, already loaded; Rodenstock publishes none.
