Roughly 116,000 units. The meter needle becomes visible in the viewfinder - the change that defines it. A smaller meter cell early, a larger one from about 1962. Standard lens options are inherited from the Reflex S; no source gives a per-Type standard-lens list for the 041 itself. START YEAR DISPUTED: 1961 from the specialist source, a period Focal Press guide and Wikipedia's own article text; 1960 from a Kodak Museum object record and two collector sites. 1961 is used as the better-evidenced value and the museum object recorded as the counter-evidence. The end, 1964, is agreed by four sources. Weight and dimensions NOT SOURCED. DATING: Kodak AG published no serial-to-year table, and the collector lists that exist map serial to MODEL with OVERLAPPING ranges - Retina Ia (015) and IIa (016) share two bands character-for-character, as do Retina I (013) and II (014), and a 50001-ish low block recurs across Types 018, 019/2, 028 and 029. A serial-only lookup is not merely imprecise, it is actively wrong. Where the fitted lens is Schneider-built, the LENS is datable from Schneider's own 63 published serial bands, already loaded; Rodenstock publishes none.
