THE FIRST RETINA, and the camera that created the 135 cartridge. Confirmed by the Kodak Museum object record, which states outright that the 117 was the first, and corroborated by three independent sources on a 1934 launch. Lens options sourced: Schneider Xenar 5cm f/3.5 (the museum example, engraved 'Schneider Xenar F: 5cm 1:3.5'), Schneider Retina-Xenar 5cm f/3.5, Kodak-Anastigmat 5cm f/3.5. WHICH WAS STANDARD IS NOT SOURCED. Shutter Compur, 1/2/5/10/25/50/100/300 + B + T. Dimensions 78 x 120 x 85 mm deployed - one museum specimen, not a published spec. Weight NOT SOURCED. GENERATION FOLDED IN: Nr. 118 (1935-36), which differs by ONE hardware dimension - the film rewind lock was moved. Its own early/late split (polished vs black-painted door struts) is a finish change, not a dimension.
