Five sources agree on 1951-1954. Coincidence rangefinder with direct-vision viewfinder; top-right rapid-wind lever coupled to cock the shutter - distinct from the bottom-mounted levers of the later c-series. Lens options sourced: Schneider Retina-Xenon 50mm f/2, Rodenstock Retina-Heligon 50mm f/2. Shutter: early examples Compur-Rapid flash-synched, the majority Synchro-Compur 1/2/5/10/25/50/100/250/500 + B, M/X sync, sync speed 1/60. An early/late split in the film reminder (below the rewind knob, then incorporated into it) is not designated an Ausfuehrung by any source. *** A NAME COLLISION ***: this is the POSTWAR Retina IIa. The prewar Retina IIa is Nr. 150, an unrelated camera, and both are in this catalogue. Weight reported as 560 g by one collector site; dimensions 82 x 122 x 92 mm deployed from one museum specimen. DATING: Kodak AG published no serial-to-year table, and the collector lists that exist map serial to MODEL with OVERLAPPING ranges - Retina Ia (015) and IIa (016) share two bands character-for-character, as do Retina I (013) and II (014), and a 50001-ish low block recurs across Types 018, 019/2, 028 and 029. A serial-only lookup is not merely imprecise, it is actively wrong. Where the fitted lens is Schneider-built, the LENS is datable from Schneider's own 63 published serial bands, already loaded; Rodenstock publishes none.
