September 1939 to roughly mid-1940, approximately 2,000 units - a rare camera, and the war ended it. Three hardware dimensions separate it from the Series II: a combined rangefinder/viewfinder in the top housing (new), the counter window moved to the top left with automatic film indexing replacing the ruby window, and cast metal strap lugs. US list price $84.50 against the Series II's $57.50. Lens by market: Kodak Anastigmat 7.5cm f/3.5 in the US, Schneider Xenar f/3.5 in Europe. Weight and dimensions NOT SOURCED.
