Spec Notes

The fixed taking lens of the PENTAX 17, catalogued separately from the camera row `pentax-17-2024`. Ricoh's spec table designates it simply 'HD PENTAX Lens'; the display name here adds the focal length and aperture from Ricoh's own prose ('newly developed 25mm F3.5 Fixed-Focal length lens'). No family suffix (-DA / -FA / -D FA) exists. Zones: 0.25 m, 0.5 m, 1.2 m, 1.7 m, 3 m, infinity. Equivalent to about 37 mm in 35 mm format. MINIMUM APERTURE AND BLADE COUNT ARE ABSENT because Ricoh publishes neither - reviewer figures were rejected. The HD coating is stated in the feature page and press releases, NOT in the spec table. ANCESTRY, per Ricoh's global and Japanese releases: the optics are 'based on the optics incorporated in the acclaimed PENTAX Espio Mini (marketed in 1994)…redesigned to fit perfectly in the half-size format', while the RICOH Auto Half (1962) was used 'as a reference' for the angle of view and focal length ONLY. Ricoh's US release compresses this into the Auto Half being the design basis - both are maker-published and the conflict is recorded rather than resolved.
